Move over big city shopping. There’s a new place to get your retail therapy fix and it’s right here in Taupō. 

With boutiques-a-plenty from homeware and furnishings, to gifts, fashion, art and antiques - our retailers take great pride in selecting (and making) some of the most incredible items you simply won’t find anywhere else.

So what are you wanting for? Make a plan to spend a day (or perhaps a weekend) here and get ready to shop till you drop. We promise you won’t go home empty-handed.


Homewares

Who doesn’t love a spot of homeware shopping? You’ll be blown away by the incredible array of high quality kitchen and bakeware at Chefs Complements, it’s a destination in its own right.

For the bath and bedroom, check out The Linen Room in the Marama Arcade. It’s a treasure trove of beautiful, luxurious products where you’re sure to pick out something special. Across the road is MCF Interiors, with stylish and modern homewares and bespoke furniture, perfect for finding that signature piece for your home.

Eko is both a clothing and furnishing store, with handcrafted homewares and bohemian/zen-style furniture that is made with love by their friends in Indonesia.

And if you’re needing a food stop, head to Replete Cafe & Store. You can peruse their gorgeous kitchen, house and personal items while waiting for your order, it’s a great way to multitask!


Fashion

Who needs to pack clothes when you could sort yourself with a whole new wardrobe when you’re in town!

Dotted around the CBD are a number of high end designer fashion stores where you’ll be sure to find something to suit every occasion. From Paire Shoes to Milly Black, Green Apples, Gigi Belle, October Reign, Romey Boutique, ...Is This Love, Copyright, Hartleys and Magazine, there’s no shortage of wonderful clothing shops in Taupō.

For the stylish gentlemen, Village Squire Menswear and Albert Pointon Menswear have you covered in Te Heu Heu Street. And for the streetwear and outdoor enthusiasts, Pointons Ski Shop and Urban Edge both stock a wide range of clothing and gear.

Need a little bling to complete your outfit or mark a special occasion? Make sure you pay a visit to John Taylor Jewellers or Rocks & Diamonds. And if you’re looking for something truly unique, check out Batika in the Marama Arcade who are importers of men's and women's ethic and tie dye clothing and accessories.


Baby & Children

The little loves in your life are well taken care of at Little Trooper. Offering a mix of children and baby clothing, toys and accessories, be prepared to spend a lot of time browsing in this charming boutique.


Souvenirs

No trip to Taupō towncentre is complete without taking home a little souvenir as a memento of your time here. Head to The Woolshed, New Zealand Corner and Merino Downunder to grab yourself a special keepsake. The Jade Centre also has a large range of jade and greenstone jewellery, carvings and figurines, ideal for those visiting from overseas.


Giftware

Looking for a gift? You don’t have to go far. At Stardust Creations are well-stocked shelves with a huge selection of crystals, gem jewellery, cards and books, wall art, ornaments and so much more. Charlie WHO has a beautifully-curated hub of fashion, art and homewares from both local and international designers.

At Spacecraft is everything from clothing to jewellery, pot plants, kids and babywear, serveware and candles - with a focus on sustainability and style. The window displays here are always amazing too! Then just down the road is Collaboration, with a stunning range of modern and eclectic designer wares and gifts.

If you’re ready for a spot of morning tea or lunch, head to Baked With Love, where not only can you grab delicious eats from their cabinet or menu, but there’s a gorgeous array of gifts too (some edible, some not). And at Deciduus & Santie in the Marama Arcade you’ll find a bespoke collection of art and nature, with a focus on New Zealand-made - from original art prints to ceramics, glass, indoor plants and dried flowers.


Art and Music

For all your pottery needs, Quirky Pottery and Camo Chicken Ceramics will have everything your heart desires, made right here in Taupō.

But if you want a little music to make your heart sing, check out one of New Zealand’s only remaining music retailers, My Music. Highly organised with unbelievable titles of CDs and LPs, the cherry on top is a team of friendly and knowledgeable music lovers who always go out on a limb to help. Keen to make your own music? Love Music stocks all your favourite instruments, equipment and gear.

For something extra special, pay a visit to Taupō Art Gallery with the works of local Taupō artist Graham Moller. Kura Gallery has a carefully curated collection of original, quality Māori and New Zealand made art and design - from traditional and contemporary carving, to unique jewellery, furniture and genuine pounamu (greenstone).

And at Lava Glass is a world-class gallery where glass is used as the canvas to forge the colour and forms of dramatic New Zealand landscapes. On display in a garden of national significance, you can also purchase your own piece of spectacular artwork.

A little bit of antique shopping never goes astray, especially since you never know what you might discover! And there’s some glorious treasures to be found at Oakleaf Antiques and Lindy Sweet Pea Antiques and Collectibles.
